What documentation do I need to present for my journey?
All passengers must provide documents to prove their identity. In the case of foreigners, the documentation required to travel on trains is the same as that needed to enter Spain from the country of origin. As for Spaniards, they can identify themselves with their national identity card or passport.
What is the currency in Spain?
In Spain, the legal currency is the euro. There is no obligation to give tips.
What if I need medical attention during the trip?
In Spain, medicines must be purchased from chemist's. If you come from a EU member country or state that has agreements with Spain, you will benefit from the same pharmaceutical benefits as those of Spanish citizens. All trains have a first aid kit on board. In addition, we are in constant contact with the health centres located along the different routes, in case any passenger needs medical attention.
Do I need to be vaccinated before I travel?
To travel to Spain, it is not necessary to be vaccinated against any disease, although, as anywhere in the world, it is recommended to be up-to-date on routine vaccines, including the anti-tetanus vaccine and COVID vaccines.
Is smoking allowed onboard?
Smoking is prohibited in all enclosed public spaces (including public or group transport vehicles) in Spain. Therefore, no passengers on board are allowed to smoke, in accordance with the current legislation. However, train journeys do not exceed 3-4 hours of travel.
Is there WiFi on board the train?
Tren Al Ándalus has Wi-Fi in its lounges, as well as a computer, from which passengers can access the Internet, check their email, etc. (Connection subject to operator coverage). For telephone communications, if you want to call from Spain to another country you must dial 00, followed by the country code and phone number. If you want to make a call to a Spanish phone number from abroad, you will need to dial +34 (Spain code) and then the phone number, consisting of 9 digits. For foreigners wishing to use their mobile phone, we recommend that they contact their operator before travelling to activate the international roaming service and find out about the fares.
Do I have to take out travel insurance?
It is recommended to take out a specific travel insurance policy, covering any possible cancellation fees, accidents outside the train, loss or damage to luggage, illness or similar. For more information, please contact your My Luxury Train consultant.
Can I make the trip if I have mobility issues?
All Luxury Tourist Trains, although remodelled and equipped with the latest technologies, are historic and vintage trains, so their interior is not adapted and it is impossible to move on a wheelchair or walking frame. Therefore, they are not accessible trains. In the case of persons with reduced mobility who only needs the support of the wheelchair outside the train, they can travel, provided that they travel with a companion for assistance. If they travel alone, please check our assistance fares.
Can minors travel in El Transcantábrico Gran Lujo?
Yes. Whenever you are travelling with a child, the price or add-on will be charged, depending on the train chosen. Only El Transcantábrico Gran Lujo and the Suite Deluxe of the Al Ándalus Train have enough space for parents to travel with a small travel cot that they must bring or to arrange a third extra bed.
Can I travel with my pet?
Pets are not allowed, except for guide dogs accompanying their owner.
What type of AC power plugs and sockets are used in Spain?
The power supply in Spain is 230 V 50 Hz with F-type plugs, two round pins.
